Benefits of a Singapore Citizen

Increased Career opportunities with the option to switch jobs freely and get multiple jobs.

The flexibility of Singapore Citizenship

As a Singapore Citizen, you get the luxury to travel outside the country freely with minimal restrictions.

Sponsorship Of Family Members

You can sponsor your direct family members for long-term passes and permanent residency. This includes your spouse or unmarried child aged below 21 born within the context of a legal marriage to, or have been legally adopted or aged parents for long-term passes.

Parenthood Incentives

In order to address the concern of smaller families in Singapore, the government has provided the people with many parenthood incentives that protect their well-being and encourage them to have larger families if they will.

Health Care Opportunities

There are many healthcare benefits and opportunities that you can avail of on Singapore Citizenship status. These are as follows:

Medifund – This is an endowment fund that assists Singapore citizens in paying for their medical expenses if they are running low on money. SPRs and foreigners are not eligible for MediFund assistance.

Medisave – Medisave Account savings (which form a part of your CPF contributions) can be withdrawn to pay the hospital bills of the account holder and immediate family members, which includes hospitalization, day surgery, and certain outpatient expenses.

Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) – CHAS was introduced with the aim of providing accessible and affordable primary care services to more Singapore citizens. In addition, it also covers acute conditions, ten chronic diseases, and selected dental treatments. In addition, patients who qualify for CHAS will receive subsidies when they visit a CHAS- accredited clinic for their healthcare needs.

Medical Fees – Citizens enjoy significantly subsidised fees at SingHealth Polyclinics and Government Hospitals.

Property and Education

Increased Educational and property opportunities for people who are a citizen.

Property – If you are a Singapore citizen above the age of 21, you have the right to buy Housing Development Board (HDB) unit with another owner or occupant who is also a Singapore citizen or a Singapore Permanent Resident. You may also be eligible for their loans at concessionary interest rates and/or a CPF Housing Grant. Remember: only Singapore citizens are eligible to rent a subsidised HDB flat.

As a Singapore citizen, you may also purchase a landed property; however, SPRs first require government approval, and foreigners are not eligible to purchase such a property. Singapore citizen households only need to pay a fraction of the total upgrading cost from the government’s upgrading programs, and alternatively, SPRs have to pay the full cost of upgrading.

Tuition Fees – At the governmental level, government-aided or independent schools or institutions, Singapore citizens enjoy significantly lower tuition fees compared to SPRs and foreigners, which definitely puts them at an advantage.

EduSave Scheme – The Edusave Scheme is a government initiative to maximise opportunities for all children who are Singapore citizens so that educational opportunities are accessible to them in all ways.
