As of 26 June 2024, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) in Singapore has introduced several important updates to the Permanent Residency (PR) application process. Notably, all PR applications must now be submitted online, with the previous option to use a downloadable offline form being discontinued. This shift to a digital process includes several key changes to the documentation requirements.
Applicants are now required to provide more detailed information about their family members. Specifically, you will need to include:
- Foreign Identification Numbers for parents and siblings.
- Current and previous employment histories.
This increased level of detail aims to give a more comprehensive view of your background and family connections.
Additionally, the ICA e-Services portal now supports simultaneous applications for both Permanent Residency (PR) and Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP). This streamlined approach is designed to simplify the process for applicants, who should review the latest guidelines and procedures on the ICA website or portal to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements and have all necessary documents for both applications.
There have also been updates to the document requirements. For instance, documents such as Annex A are no longer required for new PR applications, which simplifies the submission process and reduces the paperwork burden. Instead, the Annex A details are required to fill up in the portal.
For applicants working overseas, the ICA now mandates the submission of income tax assessments or receipts for the latest three years. This change ensures a thorough evaluation of the financial status of those employed abroad.
Moreover, applicants from certain countries are now required to upload a household registry as part of their PR submission, a requirement not previously in place.
The requirement for a letter of employment has also been revised. It must now be valid within three months of the PR submission date, extending the previous validity period from one month. This adjustment provides applicants with more time to obtain the necessary letter.
With these changes, it is crucial to carefully review your application to ensure all new requirements are met, whether it be for your PR application or Singapore Citizen application.
